The Rennteam Uni Stuttgart e.V. is a student-run initiative and a Formula Student Racing Team of the University of Stuttgart. Since its debut in 2006, it has already been the world champion of the Formula Student Combustion competition for the sixth time. In the current season, a total of 39 students from different fields of study replaced the lecture hall for the Rennteam workshop, to enrich the learning content of the studies with exciting practical experiences in the areas of vehicle development and assembly, of product and project management as well as strategic management, and learn the interdisciplinary workings usual in the industry.
From the very first day, every single member of the team brings their creativity and individual, specific know-how into the joint project, transforming the initial concept into a competitive vehicle in less than ten months.
The organizational structure of the team, consisting of five sub-teams and three team leaders, is characterized by a flat hierarchical structure, which promotes efficient project management. Each team member has a permanent position within the team for one year, learning how to take responsibility and to deal with time pressure. Despite their young age, the students are always working at a very high standard, thanks to their structured proceeding, even during periods of heavy workload.
However, the team's success depends not only on its own performance, but also on the strong support of the supporting partners. The project is supported by numerous well-known companies from the economy as well as research facilities, such as the FKFS, which enable the team to implement its goal of building the best racing car in the Formula Student competition with an internal combustion engine.
