Cambustion provides powertrain engineering services and emission measurement products, with a particular focus on the automotive industry.
Cambustion’s products group produces ultra-fast response exhaust gas and particle analyzers allowing for the measurement of a range of gases during engine transient operation including from within a single exhaust stroke. They can be deployed for detecting the origin of lubricant burn, EGR control and with the possibility in future of fast H2O measurement.

The FKFS is an independent institute and provides research and development services for the international automotive industry.

To this end, it operates various highly specialized test facilities and test vehicles, including several wind tunnels, Europe's largest driving simulator at a research facility, a powertrain test bench for hybrid and conventional vehicles, and numerous engine test benches. In-house developed measurement and testing methods enable the institute to solve complex and challenging tasks. Many years of experience in the development and application of simulation tools complement the range of services.

Around 180 highly qualified and dedicated employees work on research and development projects in the fields of vehicle drives, automotive engineering, mechatronics and electromobility. Founded in 1930, the foundation cooperates closely with the Institute for Combustion Engines and Automotive Engineering at the University of Stuttgart.

InnovationsCampus Mobilität der Zukunft

The transport systems and production techniques of the future need to be sustainable and efficient. This will require breakthrough technologies – from innovative vehicle drives to versatile production processes. The goal of the InnovationCampus Future Mobility (ICM) is to shape this change. In the ICM, the University of Stuttgart is combining its world class research and innovation teams with those of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) to develop new technologies quickly and flexibly, testing new approaches, and creating the basis for a wide range of innovations.

Beginning in 2019, the ICM now has more than 300 researchers involved in over 150 research projects, and 60 research institutes are working on electric motors without rare earths, innovative manufacturing technologies, and self-learning software systems for vehicles. The ICM is one of Germany’s largest initiatives on transport and production methods of the future. Solutions being developed at the ICM show that economic success and ecological responsibility are by no means mutually exclusive but can even complement each other.

Rennteam Uni Stuttgart e.V.

The Rennteam Uni Stuttgart e.V. is a Formula Student Team of the University of Stuttgart, which is dedicated to the development, designing and building of an innovative electric racing car. Since recently, the racing team has focussed exclusively on an electric powertrain, with the aim of developing a new electric Formula Student car every year. With this racing car, the Rennteam competes against other Formula Student teams at international competitions during the summer months. At these competitions, the prototype is tested for various requirements in a wide range of disciplines.
The 50 members of the Rennteam have their passion and burning enthusiasm for motorsport in common. The motivated students start the season and begin development in October, going through various phases until the season draws to a close in September.

Supporting the Transformation of the Automotive Industry

Electrification, cost pressure, and shortage of skilled workers are currently posing significant challenges, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It is crucial for them to actively pursue the transformation of the automotive industry and adapt or even redesign their own products and services accordingly. To assist SMEs in this immense task, the State agency e-mobil BW offers concrete and free-of-charge support through its extensive network.

The nationwide hub "Scale-up E-Drive" focuses particularly on the electric drivetrain in vehicles and its potential for the industrial location of Germany. The aim is to maintain and expand value creation and employment in the production and development of electric drive systems. In addition, "Scale-up E-Drive" offers practical training at research institutions, such as showcasing the production of electric motors.

The Information centre for the transformation of the automotive sector in Baden-Württemberg, "Transformationswissen BW", directs its attention to the automotive industry in Baden-Württemberg and businesses there with up to 3,000 employees. They receive support for their technological and strategic further development and initial orientation in the field of transformation through free and personal coordination discussions. Additionally, "Transformationswissen BW" provides access to knowledge and publications, qualification, and networking opportunities, as well as advisory services.

All services, coordinated by the State agency e-mobil BW, are available free of charge to SMEs.
